Part-Time Retail & Social Media Assistant - Midvale Store

The Birth Store is a small Australian business passionate about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Since launching in 2021, we’ve continued to grow and are now looking to welcome our 7th team member to our Midvale store.

This is a casual, part-time position requiring approximately 5–15 hours per week, depending on your availability.

This role is split between:

  • One set day in-store (Wednesday required)
  • 1–2 flexible days focused on content creation and admin

This role would suit someone creative who enjoys social media, alongside hands-on work in a small business. It may suit someone studying marketing, communications or midwifery, or a mum returning to work looking for flexibility.

What you’ll love about working with us:

  • The opportunity to grow with us and within your role
  • A genuinely close-knit team
  • A flexible and understanding workplace
  • Employee discounts on our products
  • To work with a small business that genuinely values your contribution
  • To positively contribute to many pregnancy journeys around Australia

What you’ll be doing:

Your role will be split across in-store and content-focused tasks.

In-store (Wednesday):

  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Packing online orders and products
  • Cleaning and upkeep of hire equipment
  • Opening and closing the store
  • General admin and customer support
  • Cash handling

Content & creative (flexible days):

  • Filming and editing short-form video content (TikTok, Reels)
  • Assisting with social media ideas and trends
  • Capturing behind-the-scenes content (orders, products, day-to-day)
  • Light admin support where needed

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll be:

  • Trustworthy and able to work autonomously
  • Friendly, personable, and confident communicating with customers
  • Creative, with an interest in social media and content creation
  • Comfortable filming and being behind the camera

You’ll also ideally have at least one year of experience in retail, customer service, administration, or content creation.

We would love to hear from anyone passionate about pregnancy, birth or postpartum. This role would suit someone returning to work after maternity leave, studying midwifery or marketing, or simply someone who aligns with what we do.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV to celeste@thebirthstore.com.au, and we’ll be in touch once we move to the interview stage.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you
